LeBron James could be playing his last home game in Cleveland, as the Cavaliers face elimination tonight versus the Warriors.

I contemplated writing this article about LeBron James three different times this postseason.

First, when the Indiana Pacers forced a Game 7 in round one. But something told me the Cavaliers wouldn’t let this season end prematurely.

Then, when the Boston Celtics took a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals. However, I couldn’t bring myself to bet against LeBron James in an elimination game versus Boston. Which ended up being a good decision, because he scored 46 points and later advanced to his eighth straight NBA Finals.

Now, with the Golden State Warriors leading the series 3-0, I think it’s time I wrote this article. Even if Cleveland manages to win game four, it is unlikely the Cavaliers can steal game five on the road. The Warriors have a 10-1 record at home in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers have just a 4-6 record when playing as the away team.

Plus, I think Cleveland’s chance of winning this series was spoiled by a number of crucial mistakes made in game one.

So, assuming that this series is over, what does this mean for the future of LeBron James? Well, I don’t think anyone outside of LeBron James himself knows the answer.

The list of potential destinations is endless. Every team in the NBA will be attempting to persuade the King to play in front of their home crowd next season. Wherever he goes, it will be sure to shake up the balance of the NBA.

As for now, LeBron’s future is still unknown. The one thing that we do know for sure is that James deserves nothing but respect this time around. He has given Cleveland it’s greatest four-year stretch of sports in the city’s history. He fulfilled on his promise.

Win or lose tonight, when the final buzzer goes off in the Q, LeBron James better be receiving a standing ovation.
