2018 NBA Mock Draft 2.0: Cleveland Cavaliers select Wendell Carter Jr.
Anfernee Simmons, a senior in high school that qualified to declare of the 2018 NBA Draft, is one of the many risky picks of this first round.
Simmons is a scoring combo guard that played for the Under Armor Association and USA Basketball. He’s an ideal 6-foot-3 but would be an undersized combo guard, so his handles and leadership skills will need some work. Simmons also weighs just 185 and will need a few years of NBA-style training before having an elite body.
According to NBADraft.net, he’s got an above-average shot and can shoot “consistently off the dribble and catch.” That’s quite the praise heaped onto a player that has yet to be seen against the best collegiate players.
It’s hard to trust Simmons, but if the Lakers don’t snap the raw prospect, they might regret it later on.
