2018 NBA Mock Draft 2.0: Cleveland Cavaliers select Wendell Carter Jr.
Many didn’t expect Jontay Porter to be the better of the two Porter’s for Missouri this past season. Porter made the most of his opportunity and has easily solidified himself as a great late first-round target.
Porter averaged just 9.9 points, but more importantly, he proved that he can step behind the arc. Averaging 1.2 threes per game his sole collegiate season, Porter is part of a small circle of players over 6-foot-11 that are capable shooters.
He also averaged 6.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocks. He’s athletic, can shoot, and can sufficiently fill in on the defensive end. The C’s, who have Al Horford, could train Porter to be the heir to Horford’s thrown.
Porter might not be a superstar in this league, but just like Horford, he can be a very good player that leads his team both offensively and defensively. If Porter drops, Boston is a great place for him.
