2018 NBA Mock Draft 2.0: Cleveland Cavaliers select Wendell Carter Jr.
The top 15-20 picks are pretty difficult to place. However, Robert Williams, a big-time center from the University of Texas A&M, should be the heir to Marcin Gortat’s throne in Washington.
During his time at A&M, Williams averaged double-digit points and was just a few rebounds away from double-digit boards. Along with those, Williams, who stands just 6-foot-9, blocked 2.6 shots per game his sophomore season. For a 6-foot-9 center, that’s difficult and his instincts are exceptional.
Unless you’re PJ Tucker, most players don’t have the activity level to be undersized and make a difference that the Wizards are craving on the defensive end.
At the same time, this team won’t be breaking up their stellar backcourt, so a big, athletic player to run with Wall and co. might be exactly what the team needs.
Williams is a phenomenal player and athlete, and he should be the first pick outside the lottery.
