19. player. 125. . Shooting Guard. University of Texas Tech. Zhaire Smith

Zhaire Smith is arguably a lottery pick, but the raw shooting guard from Texas Tech will need work before transforming into a star in the NBA.

Smith is a phenomenal athlete. Defensively, he averaged above a steal and a block per game in his sole freshman season. Offensively, he’ll need some work, but the potential is definitely there. He was a low-volume, high-percentage three-point shooter, averaging .5 per game on 45% from deep.

The Hawks need potential. If they trade Dennis Schroder like many think they will, then they’ll be left with just John Collins and this year’s draft to build on. If somehow Zhaire Smith falls this low, they have to take him.
