2018 NBA Mock Draft 2.0: Cleveland Cavaliers select Wendell Carter Jr.
Troy Brown is much riskier pick than the two drafted after him. Leaving after his freshman season at Oregon, Brown displayed the ability to score, defend, and rebound.
However, at the same time, Brown showcased many attributes that could turn scouts away. For starters, he’s not a fantastic shooter, averaging just 29% from deep. On top of being inconsistent from deep, Brown struggled to create for others.
Brown is a tall 6-foot-7 and should be able to switch screens and defend on-ball well. To add to that, his shot should improve, and with NBA-level coaches surrounding him, his playmaking should improve tenfold.
Brown is definitely a risk with a later pick, but aren’t these teams looking for contributing star anyway?
The Jazz need a playmaker. Mitchell carries much of the offensive load and is the only real playmaker on the team. But, is an undeveloped Troy Brown the answer?
