Opinion: Why I’m not afraid of the Celtics
By Kyle Stuver
The Young C’s
For all of the admiration and adulation that the Philadelphia 76ers got for being young and on the rise, the Celtics actually were the younger team:
Jayson Tatum- 20
More from King James Gospel
- 3 possible starting lineups for Cleveland Cavaliers in 2023-24
- The Cavaliers may have snagged a hidden gem in Craig Porter Jr.
- 4 players the Cavaliers should pursue in 2024 free agency
- 6 players Cavaliers might replace Jarrett Allen with by the trade deadline
- This stat is one to keep an eye on for Cavaliers’ Max Strus in years ahead
Jaylen Brown- 21
Terry Rozier- 24
Marcus Smart- 24
Semi Ojeleye (future failed “Lebron Stopper”) 23
Al Horford- 47 (feels that way at least)
And yet, they have been able to be very successful thus far in the playoffs. Tatum and Brown have been playing like they are 30 and 31 instead of ten years younger and “Scary” Terry Rozier has been a revelation thus far in the playoffs.
The problem is that as the size of the moment is about to get ratcheted up, I don’t know if the young guns will be able to handle it. Say what you want about Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, or even Giannis Antetokounmpo, but those guys are all under 24 as well.
Instead of their peers, the young Celtics are going to be looking across the court at a guy who has been to the Finals 7 straight times.
