2010-11 Second Round: Boston Celtics vs Miami Heat

Miami Heat win series 4-1

It was clear that LeBron James was tired of losing to the Boston Celtics. After fleeing to Miami and forming one of the NBA’s first super teams, James was ready for mass destruction. James was paired with new teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Meanwhile, Boston had their same old core of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo.

Miami started off the series by going up 2-0. James scored 35 points in-game two and looked comfortable with his new team. Boston managed to defeat the Heat in-game three, due to the duo of Pierce and Garnett who combined for 55 points.

In game four, James scored 35 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to give Miami a 3-1 lead. Game five would be the series-clinching game that James had waited four years for.

With two minutes left in-game five, the score was tied 87-87. Then, James nailed a contested three-pointer to give Miami a three-point lead. Shortly after, James connected on another three-pointer to push the lead to six.

Boston called a time-out and drew up a play for a quick bucket. Except, James blew up that play and stole the ball, finishing the play with a thunderous two-hand dunk. Before throwing down this dunk, James made sure to look back and taunt Paul Pierce, the man who had caused him so much trouble in the past.

Lastly, James banked in a driving layup to extend the Heat lead to 10, ending the series.

This 10 point explosion by James was a premonition of what was to come. This series was the first time James eliminated the Boston Celtics in the playoffs and he hasn’t looked back since.
