Cleveland Cavaliers: Top 15 draft picks in franchise history
Austin Carr or Mr. Cavalier was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1971 NBA Draft. Carr was the organizations first ever No. 1 overall selection.
Carr scored over 20 points per game in his first three seasons and ended up playing a total nine seasons in Cleveland, ending with a 16.2 points per game average. Austin Carr finished No. 6 in total minutes for the Cavaliers and top-five in points, only being edged by three players that have yet to appear on our rankings.
Carr didn’t lead any phenomenal Cavalier team. As a matter of fact, during his worst scoring season in Cleveland, the Cavaliers actually had their best season to that point, going 49-33.
Carr might not have been the player that an earlier ranked player like Andre Miller was, but Carr, who has his jersey hung in Quicken Loans Arena, has gone down as a Cleveland legend. For that, he gets quite the boost in our rankings.
Carr’s impact on the team over the years will not soon be forgotten.
