Cleveland Cavaliers: Top 30 all-time greatest players
By Ben Beecken
Jim Brewer was the second-overall pick in the 1973 NBA Draft by the Cavaliers after receiving second-team All-American honors at the University of Minnesota as a senior.
Brewer was exceedingly durable, playing in 462 out of 465 possible games in his career in a Cavs uniform. He averaged 7.5 points and 7.7 rebounds, finishing top-10 in the league in rebounding during the 1975-76 campaign.
After being traded to Detroit in 1979, Brewer was then shipped to Portland and ultimately L.A., where he won the 1982 NBA Championship as a member of the Lakers bench.
Brewer’s presence defensively and on the boards for the better part of the 1970s is enough to land him the No. 22 spot on this list. (Oh, and he’s Doc Rivers’ uncle, for whatever that’s worth.)
