Cleveland Cavaliers: Top 30 all-time greatest players
By Ben Beecken
Jim Chones was the anchor in the middle for the Cavaliers playoff teams of the 1970s, landing in the league’s top-10 in blocks and defensive rebounds in a couple of separate seasons during the decade.
Chones wasn’t a slouch offensively, either, leading the team in points per game in 1975-76 and finishing in the top-four on the team in the same category in each of his other four seasons in Cleveland.
The Cavs traded Chones to Los Angeles after just prior to the 1979-80 season, where he was a member of the Lakers’ rotation as they won the 1980 NBA Championship. He retired after spending a second season in L.A. and the final year of his career in Washington.
