Cleveland Cavaliers: Top 30 all-time greatest players
By Ben Beecken
Foots Walker helped lead the Cavs to four straight 40-plus win seasons in the mid-1970s, including a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 1975-76.
Walker didn’t become the full-time starter until 1977-78, when Cleveland won 43 games and lost in the first round of the playoffs. The following year, he averaged a career-high 10.1 points per game on a career-high 46.4 percent shooting from the floor while dishing out 5.8 assists per contest while the Cavs only won 30 games.
The next season saw the Cavaliers miss the playoffs once again, but Walker had his best assist season, averaging eight helpers per game in 1979-80.
Consistency at the point guard position for a perennially competitive team in the 70’s is enough to get Foots into the top-20 on the list.
