Cleveland Cavaliers: Lessons from a discouraging loss in Miami
The rotations are still off.
The Cavs haven’t played the most logical lineups since many of their players have returned from injury.
Starting Calderon, Hill, James, Green, and Love doesn’t make sense on the surface. Starting two players that may not play in the playoff rotation doesn’t add up with the playoffs right around the corner.
Not pairing Love with Nance as much as possible is one of the biggest problems I have. Love and Nance both have the ability to exploit mismatches. Playing them alongside each other only amplifies that. But, starting Love at center along Green doesn’t really do that especially when Green’s shot isn’t falling.
Green has been fantastic all season. He’s one of their best defender and he’s one of the most athletic players on the team. However, having him log the second most minutes on the team when the team is mostly healthy doesn’t really make sense.
To be fair, Coach Lue hasn’t been with the team. He will likely change the starting lineup and the minutes when he returns. But, some of these rotations have been questionable to say the least.

Fortunately, the Cavs don’t have to wait long to get this bad taste out of their mouths. They will travel to Charlotte to take on the Hornets Wednesday night.
