Cleveland Cavaliers: Lessons from a discouraging loss in Miami
The Cleveland Cavaliers looked awful in their 98-79 loss to the Miami Heat.
This was by far the worst loss for the new look Cleveland Cavaliers. The offense was completely out of sync. They couldn’t get a three pointer to fall either going a dreadful 4 of 26 (15.4%) from behind the arc.
The defensive numbers don’t look bad as they held Miami to under 100 points, but that’s misleading. The Cavs blew defensive assignments time and time again giving up wide open looks.
This was a rough night for everyone. Kevin Love missed most of the game after almost losing a tooth in the first quarter. LeBron James shot 38.9% from the field. The Cavs simply can’t overcome a lack of production from both of their stars.
It’s hard to take away too much from a game where the effort and the execution was so bad. Anyone who watches this team over the last four years will know that they are prone to awful road games, especially at the end of the year. This was likely the case for this one.
Here’s what we learned from the loss.
