After another tragedy in the United States, Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James talked about hatred and division. And, how he will not stand down.

Over the last couple days, several videos have gone viral regarding LeBron James, Fox News, and social issues in America. Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James, Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant and ESPN’s Cari Champion recorded a video, published by UNINTERRUPTED, discussing Trump’s America and the struggles for African American’s growing up in the States.

However, that video isn’t what sparked the controversy that is now at the forefront of the news.

Fox News anchor, Laura Ingraham, responded to James remarks concerning Trump and the need for unity. Ingraham’s response video received quite a bit of backlash on social media as it included phrases such as: “Must they run their mouths like that?” and that athletes (specifically James) need to “shut up and dribble.”

James responded to Ingraham’s comments with this picture and the hashtag #wewillnotshutupandribble.

These topics run deep and hit hard in America. A country that should be known for its unity seems more divided than ever. James, who is at the forefront of social issues, understands his role in helping the future.

This certainly hasn’t been the first time James has used his platform to speak out on social issues. Three years ago, James wore a pregame workup that read “I can’t breathe.”

Those words became a cry for a bigger movement in America following Eric Gardner’s death. Back in 2014, USA Today wrote that: “‘I can’t breathe’ were the last words of Eric Garner, who died in July after a confrontation with an New York Police Department officer.”

James’ most recent comments came after a mass school shooting in Florida in which 17 kids were killed. BBC wrote this about America’s most recent tragedy: “Suspect Nikolas Cruz has admitted carrying out the attack at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, in which 17 people died.”

While James may not be a politician by trade, he certainly has a grip on what it takes to overcome the odds in modern-day America. James, who has two sons and a daughter, has repeatedly stated how he wants to build a better and fairer America for them and people of all races.
