Former teammate Dwyane Wade sent out some words of advice to friend and Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James about his upcoming free agency.

Dwyane Wade is soaking in all the love he’s been getting since his return to the Miami Heat last week. That has resulted in a media tour of sorts where he’s been talking about everything from the weather in Cleveland to his joy of returning to his home back in Miami. Wade played 46 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Despite reports that Wade was a locker room cancer in Cleveland, he has in part gone out of his way to be complimentary of the Cavaliers and the organization. He, along with the rest of the NBA community, realized that it wasn’t working in Cleveland. Wade acknowledged that the Cavs didn’t have what it took to win a championship telling Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinal:

"“As I texted the general manager, Koby, after everything went down, I thanked him for putting me in a good position and also told him, ‘You did one hell of a job to bring the guys that he brought into the organization,’ And it’s not anything negative against the guys that were there, but it just wasn’t working, it wasn’t fitting the way that a championship organization wants to see it fit. And they brought in some good pieces. And so, they’re happy, I’m happy.”"

Wade also went out of his way to say that he isn’t going to try and recruit LeBron James back to Miami like he did in 2010. Wade doesn’t want anything to do with recruiting free agents to South Beach for the remainder of his career.

However, Wade did advise his friend to take a long look at Cleveland before deciding what to do in Cleveland. Saying, “hopefully he takes a good look at the place he’s at and gives that real consideration, and then goes from there.”

Wade realizes that things haven’t always been great in Cleveland. He had a first-hand look at how much of a mess this season has been up until the trade deadline. However, this week and the last year and a half have shown him that there’s no place like home.

Generally, you don’t realize how much you miss home until you’ve left. That’s what it appears Wade has realized as he was caught checking on the Heat multiple times while in Cleveland. I don’t think Wade wants his friend to make that same mistake he did in the twilight of his career.

LeBron might be realizing that himself in a way too when said that things are back to the way they’re meant to be with Wade back in Miami.

Looking into LeBron’s social media posts to try and figure out what he wants to do is often a waste of time, but there is truth to the idea that this is the way it’s supposed to be. Does staying in Cleveland ‘keep things the way they’re supposed to be?’

We’ll see what LeBron ends up doing this summer. We know that LeBron is going to do what he feels is best, but it appears if he listens to the advice of his best friend, he’s going to stay home.
