3 reasons LeBron James to the Warriors could actually happen.

The ‘unthinkable’ is now possible. The NBA’s biggest fear has the potential to become a reality this summer. LeBron James signing with the Golden State Warriors would be the biggest signing in NBA history, and here’s why it could actually happen.

ESPN’s Chris Haynes reported early Wednesday morning that the Golden State Warriors could go after Cleveland Cavaliers’ superstar LeBron James in free agency.

At first thought, this seems very unlikely — almost impossible. But isn’t that what everybody thought when the Warriors planned to meet with Kevin Durant after the 2016 NBA Finals?

However, to be fair, this situation is very different.

When Kevin Durant signed with Golden State, Stephen Curry wasn’t making over $201 million. In fact, Curry was making just over $12 million at the time, which allowed Durant to sign there somewhat easily.

Now, the Warriors did have to part with some key role players that made up of their “Strength in Numbers” motto. Those players included Harrison Barnes, Andrew Bogut, Leandro Barbosa and Festus Ezeli. However, it’s obvious that all of that was very worth it.

Creating cap space for LeBron James would be very difficult to do. The Warriors would most likely have to trade away Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston, and or possibly Klay Thompson or Draymond Green.

While the Warriors would prefer to keep their core of Curry, Durant, Thompson and Green together, that could prove to be difficult. However, if the chance to add James emerges and the Warriors have to trade away either Thompson or Green; or practically their entire bench for that matter, then who would say no?

Among many reasons why LeBron James signing with the Golden State Warriors is highly unlikely, here are a few reasons why it could actually happen.
