Cleveland Cavaliers win second straight: Lessons from Cavs 17-point victory
Isaiah Thomas is continuing to find his role.
It feels like this could be a point after every game Thomas has played this year. It’s clear that he is still struggling to figure out his place on the team but he did show glimpses of how good he can be.

Not surprisingly, Thomas played some of his best basketball in the third quarter when James was on the bench. He put up six points on 4-of-7 shooting with three assists that quarter.
Thomas was able to get back to playing his brand of basketball that made him a second-team All-NBA player. He finished with 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting with seven assists.
Thomas still has chemistry issues with LeBron and the rest of the starters. That shouldn’t be surprising.
High usage all-stars typically have a hard time adjusting to playing with LeBron right away. Previous high usage stars like Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love all struggled to figure out how to adapt their game to LeBron’s. However, they all were able to eventually adjust and become champions.
We don’t know if Thomas will ever be able to adjust his game to James’, but we shouldn’t be this quick to jump to conclusions. Thomas is trying to get his legs back underneath him while playing in a new city while trying to blend his game with the most dynamic player in the world. That’s a tough adjustment.
Thomas did show glimpses of the all-star he was in Boston during the third quarter.
