Cleveland Cavaliers receive: DeAndre Jordan

Los Angeles Clippers receive: Tristan Thompson, Iman Shumpert, Cleveland Cavaliers 2018 first round and Miami Heat 2020 second round draft picks

The Cavaliers have shown interest in DeAndre Jordan for quite some time now. However, nothing too serious ever came out of their (Cleveland and Los Angeles) talks. In comparison to previous reports, these might be the most serious.

The New York Times’ Marc Stein tweeted back-to-back reports regarding the Cavaliers and Jordan.

It’s no secret that DeAndre Jordan would help with the Cavaliers’ horrendous defensive. Cleveland has the third worst defense in the NBA, allowing opponents to score 108.6 points per game. In addition, the Cavaliers figure to only be able to obtain just 3.8 blocks per game, which ranks 27th in the NBA. Acquiring DeAndre Jordan would help tremendously.

This season, DeAndre Jordan is averaging 11.8 points, 14.9 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks.

Jordan is unquestionably elite in both rebounding and protecting the rim. In addition to his defensive skills, Jordan is as consistent on the offensive end as you can get. He ranks 2nd in the league in field goal percentage, converting on 66.1% of his shots.

The main reason why the Cavaliers haven’t already acquired Jordan is because of the reluctance to trade the 2018 Brooklyn Nets pick. The Los Angeles Clippers are very intrigued by the Nets pick, while the Cavaliers aren’t interested in parting ways with it. However, there could be a solution to this dilemma.
