Cleveland Cavaliers receive: George Hill
Sacramento Kings receive: Iman Shumpert, Channing Frye, Miami Heat 2020 second round draft pick
The Sacramento Kings are tied for the worst record in the NBA. At 13-32, the Kings are looking to rebuild their franchise, focusing more on their youth, thus unloading veteran players like George Hill.
The Vertical’s Shams Charania reported Friday afternoon that the Cleveland Cavaliers were pursuing the Sacramento Kings guard.
"The Vertical’s Shams Charania: In an effort to bolster their backcourt situation, the Cleveland Cavaliers are expressing interest in a trade for Sacramento Kings guard George Hill, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Cleveland has emerged as an interested suitor, with the Cavaliers pursuing Hill to potentially slide into a dual-guard role, starting at either backcourt position or playing as a reserve, league sources said."

Hill is averaging 10.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists while shooting 46.2% from the field and 45.6% from three-point range. Hill ranks in the top five in all of the NBA in three-point percentage. In fact, Hill’s three-point shooting percentage is 10.8% higher than J.R. Smith’s (34.8%).
One perk of acquiring Hill is he actually shoots a better percentage from three-point range on catch and shoot threes (47.4%) than he does overall from three.
In addition, Hill also has the ability to run an offense and play-make all while taking care of the ball. Hill only turns the ball over about 1.5 times per game. Both of these attributes could prove to be very beneficial for the Cavaliers.
According to Amico Hoops; Derrick Rose, Channing Frye, and Iman Shumpert could all be a part in a potential package for Hill.
"Amico Hoops’ Sam Amico: Sources have since added that a potential Cavs trade for Hill could possibly involve sending big man Channing Frye, shooting guard Iman Shumpert and point guard Derrick Rose to Sacramento."
With the Cavaliers actively pursuing Hill, talks could advance as we approach the February 8th trade deadline.
