The Bench

Jeff Green has been a very important addition to the Cavs so far this season. His 11 points per game off the bench along with Wade’s 11.1 and Korver’s 10 show the huge depth with which the Cavs are now working with.

After Tristan Thompson’s return and Shumpert and Rose returning soon, the Cavaliers bench looks far superior to last season.

The trio of Love, James and Irving were doing a lot of the work to grind out the victories last season. The team still seemed in need of a backup point guard and were still switching and changing up the bench. Mike Dunleavy hadn’t worked out and Korver had only played a few games after replacing him.

Now, Korver seems well acclimatized to his role on the team and is proving to be a vital cog. With the added experience of some veteran players, the Cavs’ bench seems in a much better position.

One minor caveat, however, is that Channing Frye doesn’t seem to be shooting the ball as well as last season, where, at this point, he was contributing over 9 points a game with one of the best shooting percentages from deep in the league. His three-point percentages have dropped drastically to 33.3% this season as he finds himself to be more of a fringe player.
