DALLAS, TX – NOVEMBER 17: Wesley Matthews
DALLAS, TX – NOVEMBER 17: Wesley Matthews /

The struggling Dallas Mavericks are in rebuilding mode and could look to start all over. Wesley Matthews might very well be on his way out.

The Dallas Mavericks are one of the more irrelevant in the NBA this season. Dallas has a record of (13-28) and has lost their last three. Dallas has one of the more odd rosters in all of the league. They have a mix of older veterans and younger players with lots of potential.

At the age of 31, Wesley Matthews is one of the older players on the roster. In addition to his outlying age, Matthews has the second most expensive contract on the team outside of Harrison Barnes, who is only 25 years of age.

Matthews is one of the better 3-and-D players in the NBA. Matthews is averaging 12.3 points, shooting 40.9% from the field and 39.0% from three. Not only is he a great three-point shooter, but Matthews is a very good defender as well.

While his contract is hefty at 4-years, over $70 million, his stats and overall play beat that of both Smith and Shumpert. As of now, there’s been no indication whether Dallas would be interested in moving Matthews, however, if they do decide to move him, the Cleveland Cavaliers should make a push for him.
