The Atlanta Hawks own the worst record in the NBA and don’t have much to play for. This could be the best scenario for the Cavs in potentially acquiring Kent Bazemore.

At 10-29, the Atlanta Hawks are dead-last in the NBA standings. They have dropped four of their last six, and three in a row. At age 28, Bazemore doesn’t exactly fit right into a roster which is obviously in a rebuilding stage.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hawks are looking to move veterans on their roster, including Bazemore.

"ESPN’S Adrian Wojnarowski: Atlanta is pushing to unload veterans and gather more draft picks and young players. Bazemore, Ersan Ilyasova and Marco Belinelli are expendable."

Bazemore is easily having one of his best seasons of his career. He is averaging 12.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. In addition, he’s shooting 41.5% from the field and 38.3% from three. To add on, Bazemore is 11th in the league in steals, averaging 1.8 per game.

The 6-foot-5, 201 pound Bazemore is capable of playing a multitude of positions. His versatile play at both the offensive and defensive ends of the court could prove to be very valuable for a team like the Cavaliers.

Bazemore is in the second year of a 4-year, $70 million contract. While the Cavaliers certainly have the assets to make a trade for Bazemore, there has been no indication that they will.
