New year, new team? 5 trades the Cleveland Cavaliers could make in 2018
Option No. 1: A dynamic shooting guard, Evan Fournier
The Orlando Magic were hot to kick the season off. This team, while still filled with an array of excellent players, haven’t quite put anything together following that hot start. They have lost 13 of their last 14.
Fournier, who plays fewer minutes than last season, has scored a career-high 17.9 points per game for the Magic. He’s a complete player and can score in an array of ways. For starters, he shoots 40% from downtown. To add to that, he’s made a career-high 2.1 threes per game.

This team does not need him. They have their future star in Jonathon Issac and will get a top-five pick in this next extremely deep talented 2018 Draft. On top of all that, Fournier is locked up for the next four seasons and is earning $17.0 million, less than Tristan Thompson will make next season.
It’s time for Fournier to find a team he can compete in. The 6-foot-7, 25-year-old could keep the Cavs with a solid, scoring SG for years to come.
The Cavs, who expect quite a bit from JR Smith, have seen him struggle this entire season. Smith has been inconsistent from deep his entire career, and this season his struggles have hit an all-time low. Does that mean it’s time to move on?
Suggested trade:
Evan Fournier for Iman Shumpert, Ante Zizic, and the Cavs’ 2018 first-round pick.
Call me crazy, but I think Fournier is worth it.
