Lesson #1: Dwyane Wade has found his role

Dwyane Wade has finally settled into his permanent bench role.

After finding his rhythm during the first half of the streak, Wade was able to score over 10 or more points in seven straight games, and he scored over 15 points in eight of the thirteen games in their streak. He scored double figures in just four of the Cavs first 12 games while transitioning out of the starting role.

More from King James Gospel

Wade has been effective and has been able to be the main contributor off the bench, a role he flourishes in. The second quarter has been where Wade does the majority of his damage. Throughout the course of the Cavs last fourteen games, Wade has averaged 5.8 points on over 50% shooting in the second quarter alone.

This is extremely important because it is the only time LeBron James gets any type of extended rest. During the second quarter, James has been on the court for just 7.7 minutes per game. While still quite a bit, James easily averages over 8 minutes in every other quarter. The main reason for this is Wade’s ability to help lead the second unit and successfully lead the team while maintaining the starters lead or even creating one with the second unit.

This has been exactly what the Cavaliers have needed from Wade, and throughout this streak, it has all come together.
