Cleveland Cavaliers’ leader LeBron James is basically Superman on and off the basketball court.

I don’t think I really need to get into what LeBron James means to the NBA and Cleveland Cavaliers. You, your brother, your sister, and everybody else know what the King means to so many, and that doesn’t just mean in relation to basketball. He’s always been an active member in his surrounding areas, and especially in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

On Thursday morning, number 23 had an interesting take on what his most important professional accomplishment was. For the casual fan, they might say the three NBA championships or having the most playoff win shares of all-time, per Sports Reference. The answer to that question? Opening his “I Promise” school in the previously mentioned Akron.

James had this to say in relation to his greatest professional accomplishment, per Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com.

"“Besides having three kids and marrying my wife, putting my mom in a position where she never has to worry about anything ever again for the rest of her life, this is right up there. Championships, MVPs, I mean, points, rebounds, and assists, that stuff is, whatever.”"

Vardon also touched on how the King’s foundation will open “I Promise” next fall for third- and fourth-graders in Akron who are at risk of falling behind. Thanks to LeBron, kids will have a better chance to succeed in the classroom and in life.

“Beginning in 2021, students in James’ mentoring program who graduate from an Akron public school can get a scholarship to attend the University of Akron for free,” noted Vardon.

LeBron has had an incredible career, and he’s clearly not getting off the basketball court anytime soon. Sorry, Celtics. However, it’s the ability of James to use his basketball platform to positively impact his community off the floor that has been so impressive.

Clearly, the kid from Akron is well aware that his legacy stretches way beyond basketball. It will be exciting to see what’s to come for James post-NBA.
