3.) Cavs acquire: Marc Gasol; Grizzlies acquire: Kenneth Faried (DEN), Iman Shumpert, Ante Zizic, plus Brooklyn Nets pick (protected 1-7); Nuggets acquire: Channing Frye, Brandon Wright (MEM) and James Ennis III (MEM)

This trade helps all teams involved.

Memphis gets essentially an expiring contract in Shumpert, a young player in Zizic and a guy who can compete right away in Faried. Denver gets rid of Faried who they have been shopping for a while. The Nuggets get depth in Frye and Ennis to help them out with Paul Millsap who is out for an extended period of time.

The Nuggets, without Millsap for a while, need the extra shooting to go alongside Jokic. Frye is career 38.9% three-point shooter, and his expertise could be of high use in Denver. The Nuggets, if they want to make the playoffs, need to make some moves, and this could be enough to buy them time until Millsap if healthy.

For Memphis, they get basically they did in trade No. 2, and they get Faried instead of Frye. They should prefer Faried’s hustle and grit since their home court in Memphis is called “Grind City.”

For Cleveland, if they could up any combination of Frye, Thompson, Shumpert, and Zizic along with their first-round pick; then, they should. It starts getting tricky when an unprotected Brooklyn pick is added in.
