The Cleveland Cavaliers are riding a seven-game win streak, but this team should be doing much better at this point in the season.
After twelve games, the Cleveland Cavaliers were an extremely disappointing at 5-7. Since then, they have turned up the heat and won seven straight. However, this sudden onset of effort should be the norm for the Cavs.
Their competition during this win streak has not been top-tier either. The game before they rattle off seven straight they lost the Houston Rockets by 4. During this streak, the Cavaliers have played six teams, playing the Hornets twice. The team that they have played have a combined record of 57-75, a winning percentage of .432. On top of that, the only team that has a record above .500 is the Detroit Pistons, who are certainly not an elite basketball team.
On top of that, the Cavaliers have only really put it on one team. They were up by at least 30 for quite a bit of the second half against the Pistons and ended up winning by 28. So, the only quality team they played, they annihilated. Besides that, the Cavs have narrow wins over the Knicks (3), Hornets (1), and Clippers (OT win by 5).
All that to say, the Cleveland Cavaliers have played and have beaten mediocre competition like they should. While it was good to see them succeed, they must continue to beat teams that shouldn’t even be on the same floor as them. This streak, however, won’t be all sunshine in the near future. The Cavaliers have to somehow take down the Philadelphia 76ers.
Tonight, the Cavaliers take on another team currently on a winning streak as Philly has taken down their last three opponents. After that game, they will not meet a team within the top five of either conference until seven games later when they take on Philadelphia again, who is No. 5 in the Eastern Conference.

The Cavs scheduled started out fairly easily. They could easily be 15-4 right now. The early season struggle will plague them all season, but we can finally put those days behind us, even though their schedule has been rather weak. This win streak could easily hit 14 games and still not too impressive.
