The Cavs five-game winning streak has been due largely to their defense. During the winning streak, the Cavs have put up a 100.8 defensive rating which is eighth best in the league during that stretch. There’s still room for improvement, but they’re making steps in the right direction.
The Cavs won’t blow teams out like this all the time. However, if they’re committed to playing defense for 48 minutes and they have hot shooting night from three results like this could become more common.
Jae Crowder could be getting on the right track.
Crowder has struggled so far in Cleveland. However, he showed just how valuable he can be when he finds a rhythm. Crowder played with energy on both ends of the floor and was excellent cutting off the ball.
We’ll see if he can build off this game. Crowder’s success, especially on the defensive end, will go a long way in determining the Cavs’ outcome in the playoffs.
