The Cleveland Cavaliers have underperformed to start the season, and if their struggles continue, they may look to other teams to help them out.

While the Cleveland Cavaliers have gone on a recent three-game winning streak, it’s hard to forget how dreadful they have been this season. LeBron James, who has played 38.1 minutes per game (MPG), leads the NBA in MPG this season.

In his 15th season, if the Cavaliers continue to work LeBron at this pace just to barely scrape eight wins in fifteen games, they might run into issues come May and June when he will be looking at his eighth straight season over 100+ games. Even Draymond Green, the Golden State Warriors starting power forward, pointed out the overuse of LeBron James, and James actually voiced his agreement with Green.

Not only would LeBron James benefit from adding another capable rotational player, but the entire team should be able to see a slight decrease in minutes. Not to mention another rotational player would be able to bring new skills and talents to a Cleveland Cavaliers’ team that has yet to find their groove in the 2017-2018 season.

Adding a new player to fill one of the Cavaliers many holes might be exactly what this team needs to energize one of the league’s oldest teams. The Cavs shouldn’t just target any player though; they need someone that will either enhance their defense or improve their shooting, and here are their top five targets early that should be easily available.
