DURHAM, NC – NOVEMBER 11: Marvin Bagley III
DURHAM, NC – NOVEMBER 11: Marvin Bagley III /

5. Marvin Bagley III

Marvin Bagley III is probably the player that can challenge Michael Porter Jr. for the top pick in the 2018 NBA Draft more than anyone else. He is a 6-foot-11 big man with the athleticism of Karl-Anthony Towns and Blake Griffin. He works well at running the floor, as he is faster than almost every player with his size. Every team needs players like him to adapt to the fast pace at which the NBA works recently.

Bagley is currently attending Duke University, where he leads what appears to be the best college team this season, according to the power rankings. If he can lead Duke to the NCAA Championship, he’ll make an even stronger case for becoming the top pick in the upcoming draft.

His only weakness when compared to the other 4 top prospects is his ability to shoot from long-range, an element that most players have in their game nowadays. This doesn’t change the fact, though, that Marvin Bagley III is a very prolific rebounder and a great rim protector that could be the missing piece in Cleveland championship puzzle. Bagley could learn from Kevin Love and try to add even more offensive tools in his game, that would help him and the team thrive.

Another  issue in his game is the fact that he hasn’t yet established his primary playing position. Because of that, he isn’t elite at either power forward or center. We know he is a defender and that he can crash the defensive and offensive glass but he still hasn’t put everything together. If he does during his freshman season with Duke, though, he is a player that will cause many problems to the opposing teams, starting in the 2018-2019 NBA Season.
