NEW YORK, NEW YORK – April 14: DeAndre Ayton /

3. DeAndre Ayton

DeAndre Ayton is everything the Cavaliers have been desperately wanting since LeBron signed with the Heat. Ayton is a 7-foot-1 center with a 7-foot-5 wingspan. He is a rebounding machine and a low post threat that can score at will. Additionally, he is a very prolific mid-range and three-point shooter. But most importantly, he is a great rim protector, which is exactly what the Cleveland Cavaliers need in order to have a complete roster.

Ayton is currently attending the University of Arizona, where he is surrounded by a very talented group of players. Even though he still is the best player on the team, he will not be their only scoring option, like with the Porter-Missouri scenario. The Arizona Wildcats are one of the favorites to win the NCAA Championship this year, an award that increases every player’s chance at being selected at the top of the draft board.

To be honest, LeBron has never played with a star Center during his career. The only players that came close were Ilgauskas and a very old Shaquille O’Neal. Ayton could be the player to convince LeBron to stay and finish his career in Cleveland. Just imagine the combination of LeBron James and a player that is very similar to Karl-Anthony Towns or a young Dwight Howard.

The most impressive element of his game has to be his incredible athletic abilities. His speed and his vertical skills are qualities that every center in the NBA would be jealous of. Depending on the team that has the top pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, we could see him get selected at the very top of the list.

The only thing we can say for sure is that if the first pick goes to Cleveland, there is no better player to select than Ayton.
