2. Luka Doncic

The NBA has seen many European players dominate the league over the past couple decades. It seems like the style of play across the Atlantic is quite different from the one in the States. On the one hand, most American players are known for their ability to score the basketball and their out-of-this-world athleticism. On the other hand, European players are mostly known for their skill and ball-movement.

Many players have dominated the NBA and many continue to do so. Tony Parker, Dirk Nowitzki, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Pau and Marc Gasol, Rudy Gobert, Goran Dragic and Nikola Jokic are just a few names of what appears to be a pretty lengthy list. These players have previously competed in the EuroLeague, the highest level of competition across the ocean.

Now it’s time for another hot European prospect to dominate in the NBA. This prospect is no other than 18-year-old sensation, Luka Doncic. The versatile Slovenian shooting guard is currently playing for Real Madrid, arguably the best team in Europe. If this wasn’t enough, he has been starting for the team since he was 16!

Luka showed his true value in the 2017 EuroBasket tournament, where he and Dragic led their country, Slovenia to the gold medal. During the tournament, he averaged 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists per game. He scored 27 points in the quarterfinal where Slovenia beat Latvia, led by Kristaps Porzingis, and had a near triple-double in the Semifinal against Spain. Due to his superb performances throughout the tournament, he earned a spot in the All-Tournament Team, as his draft stock continued to rise.

So what could Luka bring to the Cleveland Cavaliers? For starters, he would be the player that the team could rebuild around once it’s time to do so. He would also contribute to the team with his defensive intensity and his offensive versatility, as he can play point guard, shooting guard and small forward.
