5. The dragon of the South is headed North

Cavaliers receive: Goran Dragic, Josh Richardson

Heat receive: Channing Frye, Iman Shumpert, Nets 2018 unprotected 1st round pick

The Miami Heat are clearly looking to deal Goran Dragic. How are we so sure? That’s because they have already offered him to a number of teams, including the Cleveland Cavaliers. A couple of days before the Kyrie Irving trade, the Heat called up the Cavs to discuss a trade that would send Dragic to The Land and Irving to South Beach.

Dragic is without a doubt a top player in the NBA. He has been a very consistent scorer and distributor for the past 5 years. He was also named as the FIBA Eurobasket MVP for the 2017 tournament where he single-handedly led Slovenia to the gold medal. During the tournament he averaged 23 PPG including a significant final performance, scoring 35 points while playing with leg cramps.

Goran Dragic won the Most Improved Player award and was voted into the All-NBA Third Team in 2014, his most productive season. He is a very gifted 3-point shooter and could be the defender at the point guard spot the Cleveland Cavaliers need. Miami is currently rebuilding so it wouldn’t be surprising seeing them let go of the 31-year-old veteran.

This trade scenario also includes Josh Richardson. Josh is a player that has already shown his worth despite only having played for 2 seasons in the NBA. He was selected in the 2nd round of the 2015 NBA Draft but slowly earned his minutes on the Miami Heat. He could be an additional scoring option in this very deep Cavaliers roster but also use his defensive skills on the other end of the floor.
