3. Kenneth Faried is set free

Cavaliers receive: Kenneth Faried, Jamal Murray

Nuggets receive: Channing Frye, Iman Shumpert, and the Nets 2018 unprotected 1st round pick

Kenneth Faried has been a lifelong target for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Basically, whenever the Cavaliers struggled or were looking to make a trade, his name came up. He is a player that can provide the team with valuable energy and defense coming off the bench. Faried could be the leader of the second unit, and if he performs better, why not replace Thompson?

It is rumored that Faried is not happy with his secondary role in Denver, behind Nikola Jokic and wants to be traded. And to be honest, things did not get better with the Nuggets signing Paul Millsap this past offseason. Kenneth Faried will likely see his minutes getting reduced, which is causing a lot of frustration and growing trade rumors.

Everybody was convinced that Faried was going to become a star, after him making the USA roster at such a young age and being included into the All-Rookie first team. He started off his career by putting up impressive numbers but never got the playing time he deserved.  On the Cavs, he could get a bigger role, as the competition for the center spot is easier than in Denver, and could show the whole NBA his value.

Via this trade scenario, the Cavs also acquire Jamal Murray, a member of the 2017 All-Rookie second team. He was selected with the 7th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft and has not disappointed since. Murray is a proven scorer who averaged 10 points per game in his rookie season while backing up Gary Harris. He was also named as the Rising Stars Challenge MVP during the same season. Murray could be a member of the Cavaliers backcourt for the future.
