Cleveland Cavaliers: 5 players they should trade the Nets’ pick for
1. Cavaliers snatch up Boogie
Cavaliers receive: Demarcus Cousins, Ian Clark
Pelicans receive: Tristan Thompson, Iman Shumpert, and the Nets 2018 unprotected 1st round pick
This is probably the most realistic trade the Cavaliers could make. Cousins is arguably the best center in the league, but his partnership with the Brow hasn’t been the most effective so far. Perhaps it’s because they have many similarities in their game. Boogie and Anthony “the Brow” Davis have been playing alongside each other since last year’s All-Star break, and it’s clear their games are not complementing each other.

Truth is that the Cavs haven’t had a notable player at the five since Big Z. And, that was almost 10 years ago. Even though Tristan Thompson is not a bad player, his skills against the Warriors are completely useless. Maybe it’s time he and Cleveland parted ways.
When you are a top team in the NBA you search for the best replacements available. Cousins is an incredibly gifted rebounder, and his partnership with Kevin Love on the glass would be dreamy for the main shooters on the team.
Boogie is going to be a free agent next summer, making it even easier for the Pelicans to trade him away, as it is not sure whether or not he will re-sign. The Pelicans seemed to be in a rebuilding mode, until they traded away Buddy Hield, in order to acquire Cousins, but now it is not quite clear whether they will tank or challenge for the playoffs.
Additionally, the Cavs could pick up Ian Clark, a player previously on the Warriors. He could be another important piece in the team’s rotation and could provide valuable minutes of rest to Isaiah Thomas, Derrick Rose, and Dwyane Wade. Last season, Clark averaged 7 points per game while playing 15 minutes per game on a stacked Golden State team.
