Cleveland Cavaliers: One blatant weakness for every Cavalier
Iman Shumpert: Weakness– Shooting, Opportunity
The role of Iman Shumpert is ever-changing, but his skill set is one that is hard to replicate. Shumpert is a superb defender that also has the ability to run the point and can occasionally hit the three-point shot.
That said, Shumpert’s offensive game has a handful of holes in it. For starters, Shumpert has a career three-point percentage of just 34.2%. This, however, is not a horrific number. Shumpert is generally a smart player. He picks his battles on the offensive end of the floor wisely. Although, overall, Shumpert was a huge disappointment last season. He shot just under 40% from the field and never truly found a spot in Lue’s rotation. Shumpert is in luck though; until Isaiah Thomas returns, he should be able to get significant minutes especially with his only competition being Jose Calderon.
For Shumpert to stay in the rotation, he must excel in however many minutes he is given. The six-year veteran should understand how the process works. If he can contribute significant minutes early in the season with Derrick Rose and Isaiah Thomas both missing time, he might be able to earn minutes when it really counts.
