Cleveland Cavaliers: One blatant weakness for every Cavalier
Dwyane Wade: Weakness– Shooting, Age
Just like Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade has never been a great shooter.
That weakness has plagued the Cavaliers’ starting lineup to start the season. At just 3.3 per game, the Cavaliers’ starting unit has averaged the 28th most threes per game. In an NBA that is focused on three-point shooting, this will eventually become a problem. Wade has certainly not helped this cause. Wade has averaged the team’s fifth-most minutes and has made the ninth most threes per game.
For Wade, the more athletic and younger version could just take the vast majority of defenders off the dribble. Now, at 35, he has struggled to find his role on this team. It has gotten so strenuous for Wade that he has actually requested a move to the second unit after starting the team’s first three games and being named the starter over JR Smith before the season started.
In his 15th NBA season, Wade has not been able to evolve his game like his teammate and friend LeBron James. But, he must. At the very least, Wade must figure out his role, and the best position for him to do so might be on the team’s second unit.
