Cleveland Cavaliers: 7 teams that should trade for Channing Frye
Team #3: The superstar-led OKC Thunder
OKC is expecting to be competing for the NBA Championship this season especially after trading for both Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. Their starting unit will be a force, but their backup center spot could use some help, and Frye should be their guy. Channing Frye, who played 100% of his minutes last season at center, could certainly be of use for OKC this season.
The Thunder have their playmakers in Paul George and Russell Westbrook. If one of those two transitions to help captain the second unit or Semaj Christon arises to be the playmaker most thought he could be coming out of Xavier, then OKC’s second unit could do some damage. Their backup power forward, Patrick Patterson, could combine with Channing Frye to help space the floor giving potentially huge driving lanes for the two superstars.
The Thunder’s second unit last season made the 24th fewest threes and shot the 27th best percentage from deep. Even in their remodeled team, their second unit needs more shooting. For a pair of second-round picks, Channing Frye would be their guy. His expertise would fit right in and help improve the efficiency of the Thunder’s key stars.
