For a while it was Richard Jefferson on the Cleveland Cavaliers’ hot seat, but could it now be veteran sharpshooter Channing Frye?

Unlike Richard Jefferson and Jose Calderon, Channing Frye could still a meaningful contributor on another championship-contending team. The one-dimensional shooter is lethal from deep, and that could be enough to gauge interest from several other teams, especially since he has lost his rotational spot with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Tyronn Lue has informed and apologized to Channing Frye that he will not be in the rotation this upcoming season or at least to begin it, according to Cleveland.com. This news doesn’t come as a shock as the Cavaliers’ coach has been shaking up and finalizing the Cavaliers’ rotation to start the season. He benched last season’s starters, JR Smith and Tristan Thompson. Frye, who has been a crucial member of the Cavaliers’ second unit, will not be in the second unit at all.

Frye earns too much money for the Cavaliers not to use him at all. But, his unique skill set makes him too good to cut completely. Frye is set to make $7.4 million this upcoming season, and the Cavaliers should be extremely happy if they can somehow ship him and his contract elsewhere.

That said, if he is the odd man out, here are seven teams that should consider trading for the 6-foot-11 sharpshooter. Most to all of these teams would have to cut or trade a player to find the cap for Frye’s contract also.
