Target #1: The world’s second best player, Kevin Durant

The snake, his nemesis– whatever you want to call Kevin Durant, if James and Durant were ever to team up, it would be unstoppable. According to ESPN’s #NBARank, LeBron James is still the planet’s best basketball player, but Kevin Durant is not too far behind even though his teammate Steph Curry came in at No. 2 on the list.

Back in 2012, both Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook teamed up with LeBron James to win a coveted gold medal at the London Olympics. Although much has transpired since then, James might still be good friends with Durant even after Durant’s Finals’ explosion.

Durant, just like Kawhi Leonard, is one of the best two-way forwards in the NBA. As a player, he has come quite a long way since the Thunder’s 2012 Finals’ run that ended in five games at the hand of LeBron James. If Curry was the captain and received the No. 1 pick, Durant might be his first option, so maybe James would choose Curry’s teammate just out of spite of the Warriors regular season superteam.

While most of this is speculation, it is almost certain that James will get a captain’s role, and this dilemma might again arise.

Durant? Davis? KAT? Kawhi? Russ? Who do you think LBJ would choose with the No. 1 overall pick?
