Cleveland Cavaliers’ guard/forward Iman Shumpert was not surprised by his former teammate Kyrie Irving trade request and ensuing trade.

Shumpert sat down with Complex and talked about seemingly everything. From personal matters involving his family to the Cleveland Cavaliers and what’s next, Iman Shumpert gave us some insight on his life and mindset following the Irving trade.

The video below is the full clip of Shumpert’s interview. He starts to talk about LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, the Cavaliers’ inter-relationships, and the Irving trade around the 52nd minute. The best part, in my opinion, is when Shumpert dives into how the media corrupt James and Irving’s relationship because of Irving’s request.

Shump addresses just about everything that fans wondered. From what Irving brought to the team to his personal performances and how he can improve, Shumpert kept it real. This was a fantastic interview and Shumpert really showed us some of the behind-the-scenes talks about the Cavaliers.

Shumpert, who seems to be one of the hottest Cavaliers’ players this offseason, had one of his better seasons last season in terms of efficiency. Shump shot a career-high 41.1% from the field, but the Cavaliers will need better this upcoming season. The six-year veteran is one of the most competitive Cavaliers.

His ability to be a two-way player is one of his most commendable traits. Defense seems to at an all-time low in the NBA, and two-way players are crucial for most teams. This is what makes Iman Shumpert valuable and what has brought his name up so much in trade talks.

The Cleveland Cavaliers need Iman Shumpert this upcoming season. Especially with two injury-prone point guards, Shumpert being able to jump in the game and work the point will be crucial throughout the season. From the interview, it seems like Shumpert has been in the gym and could be ready for a career-year this season.
