Trade: Iman Shumpert to the Bulls, a future first-round pick to the Cavaliers

Iman Shumpert grew up about thirty minutes outside of Chicago, and going home might be a great idea for him. Shumpert seems like he won’t be opting into his contract for many teams, but the Bulls might be one Shumpert could play on to end his career.

If the Bulls buyout Dwyane Wade like they most likely are going to, then Iman Shumpert could fill his role on the team. Shumpert is a better shooter than Wade, and he might be able to find his scoring flow in Chicago. The Bulls, however, do not have many assets that the Cavaliers would want. They do have players like Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and Lauri Markkanen, but the Cavaliers would need to offer much more to acquire one of them.

That said, the Cavaliers should just request a future first round pick. The Bulls should have faith that in four or five years they will be a playoff-contending team. If they are, then that pick wouldn’t be worth too much.

The Cavs need future assets, and the Bulls could be the team to give them one.
