Trade: Iman Shumpert to the Nuggets, Wilson Chandler to the Cavaliers

Back near the All-Star break, the Nuggets’ versatile forward, Wilson Chandler, reportedly wanted out of Denver. The Nuggets held on to him, and they waited for the offseason to play out.

Danilo Gallinari left and Paul Millsap came in. The Mile High City and Mile High basketball haven’t been this excited for the upcoming season to start in years. That said, they still will not be even close to a championship-contending team.

Chandler, who is now 30 years old, will not be getting any younger waiting for the Nuggets to contend. The Nuggets could trade Chandler straight up for Shumpert. Chandler could be on a contending team, and Shumpert could find himself in a situation where his talents could be of good and appreciated use. He could back up Gary Harris and lead the charge off the bench with Will Barton. That second unit for Denver would excel defensively and would be versatile with two solid scorers off the bench.

The Cavaliers might have to add in either their own picks or the 2020 second-round pick they acquired in the Kyrie Irving trade. Nonetheless, both sides should at least consider this deal.
