Trade: Iman Shumpert to the Kings, Kosta Koufos to the Cavaliers

This upcoming season, the Cavaliers have one of the deepest teams except for at point guard and center.

They did recently add Ante Zizic, but he is unproven and could falter in his first NBA games.  On the other end, Zizic could turn into the player that the Cavaliers needed to anchor their second unit. Even if Zizic is the man, the Cavaliers could use more depth down low.

According to CavsNation, the Kings are interested in the Cavs’ guard. The Cavaliers struggled defensively last season, and Shumpert did not help that much. According to basketball-reference, per 100 possession, Shumpert posted a 112 defensive rating. At a 104 career average, Koufos has a better defensive rating than both the Kings (109.1) and Cavaliers (108.0) did last season. Team ratings are per NBA.com.

The Cavaliers could use a big, and if the Kings were to add a pick in this deal, they could probably acquire a tough and gritty rotational player. The Kings want Shumpert, but they would need to be willing to pay him next season, and with several players on their rookie contracts, they could most likely retain the veteran guard.
