Cleveland Cavaliers: LeBron James, Kyrie Irving yet to talk about trade
LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, the two Cleveland Cavaliers’ superstars, have yet to talk about Irving’s trade to the Boston Celtics.
According to ESPN’s Chris Forsberg, Kyrie Irving and LeBron James have not talked, but the former Cleveland Cavaliers’ point guard did show high praise for the King.
"Kyrie Irving said he has not spoken with LeBron James since the trade that delivered him to the Boston Celtics, but he showered his former teammate with praise and stressed that his decision to push for a trade was motivated by an opportunity to find out what more he can accomplish."
After his trade was finalized, Irving sent out a video that showed only his highest praise and thankfulness for the city of Cleveland and his teammates in Cleveland. Irving continues to go about this the right way. He also continues to say that this was in his best interests, and it has nothing to do with LeBron James. The 25-year-old, who hit one of the biggest shots in Cleveland history, has proven to be extremely mature in going about this trade request and ensuing trade.
Personally, I am shocked that Irving and James have not talked. At times, they almost seemed as close as brothers. Now rivals, these two will have to battle several times this upcoming season. Those matchups will the some of the best and most viewed games in this next season. It hasn’t just been over the last couple days. Irving, according to Chris Manning, hasn’t talked to LeBron for a while.
This should only be adding fuel to James’ fire for opening night. At home, on October 17, the Cleveland Cavaliers will host the Boston Celtics in their first game of the year, and it certainly wouldn’t shock me to see LeBron go for 40+ that night.

Irving has the chance to break out into an MVP candidate this season, so switching over to Boston might end up being the best move for him. Although he might join MVP discussion, the six-year veteran will certainly not rival LeBron when playoff time comes around. This trade should make both fan bases more excited and prepared for the new season to arrive.
