Cleveland Cavaliers still eyeing two key players
With the Kyrie Irving trade finally becoming official, the Cavaliers are moving on and have two more players in mind.
The Cleveland Cavaliers certainly have a different look to their roster compared to last year. And it all begins with the blockbuster deal that was finalized Wednesday night.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavaliers officially traded away Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics after a halt in the deal over a draft pick.
In exchange for Irving, Cleveland managed to haul back an impressive package of players. Those players include Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, and Ante Zizic. In addition to the trade, the Cavaliers have made some very respectable signings in an attempt to improve their roster as well. They’ve signed former MVP, Derrick Rose, ex-Orlando Magic forward, Jeff Green, and ex Atlanta Hawks guard, Jose Calderon.
However, even with the signings and recent trade, it looks as if Cleveland isn’t stopping just yet. They need to continue. This roster isn’t quite ready to take on the Warriors in what should be their fourth straight Finals’ meeting.
According to Amico Hoops, Cleveland is still looking to trade guard, Iman Shumpert, but also reportedly still inspecting the situations of Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade.
"Sam Amico: Along with trading Irving, and potentially dealing Shumpert, the Cavs continue to keep an eye on the Carmelo Anthony situation in New York, and more so, the possible Dwyane Wade contract buyout in Chicago."
The Cavaliers surely have the assets to make a push for Anthony and should attempt to acquire the disgruntled All-Star.
Furthermore, ESPN’s Nick Friedell reported that the Bulls organization and Wade will eventually reach a buyout. According to Joe Vardon (h/t NBCSports), people close to LeBron appear to be “fairly confident” that Wade will join Cleveland. Bringing Wade and Carmelo to Cleveland should be the organization’s top priority.
Adding those two players to an already championship built roster is almost too intriguing to pass up if you’re Cleveland. If they are there, Cleveland must start the conversation.
