Cleveland Cavaliers: No young player? No worry
The Cleveland Cavaliers will no longer be looking for a young asset in the Kyrie Irving trade.
With what they got already in the deal that is just fine. It should be noted though that the Cleveland Cavaliers are trying to get one of the Boston Celtics first round picks as compensation. Here is a list of Boston’s future first round draft picks.
The added depth that they got will help them this season. The first round pick that they have already in the deal from the Nets though is crucial because that means they will get an impact player in the draft while being in the position to contend. That is if they keep LeBron James. But the pick is a crucial negotiation tool to help keep LeBron in Cleveland. A young star would love to have LeBron mentoring him.

According to ESPN the Cavaliers are projected to be the second pick after the Chicago Bulls and they will get Marvin Bagley III. Bagley is a force in the open court. He can score, block and rebound. The problems for him are outside shooting and defense. As we can all remember LeBron had perimeter shooting problems when he came into the league but he fixed that issue. Bagley can be no different. Especially since he has a year in college at Duke where he will play under head coach Mike Krzyzewski. Coach K’s reputation precedes itself.
With the future looking bright for the Cavaliers that gives them more flexibility. They can do things like trade the pick to get an asset that helps LeBron stay or the could draft Bagley or if they are even luckier Michael Porter Jr. who is projected to go to the Bulls. Porter has playmaking ability on both sides of the court and is a highly talented athlete that is just realizing his skill.
The player that the Cavaliers would be getting with the pick would surely suffice for losing the ability to get a young player in the Kyrie Irving trade. The player that they would be getting with the Nets pick would be able to play right away and would make an impact to the teams title chances. The Cavaliers would benefit greatly for making their roster a little bit younger.
