Trade #2: The Detroit Pistons
This upcoming season is not set to be a promising campaign for the Detroit Pistons. Motor City was predicted to have the exact same record as last season, 37-45. That said, it is about time they switch something up.
Although not a done deal, it is highly probable that Irving is going to Boston; therefore, Cleveland shouldn’t even consider asking for any of Detroit’s young guns. But, it is time for Detroit to give their young guys some run. Players like Stanley Johnson need to get more than 23.1 minutes per game, the average Johnson received last season. Harris, who is the starting small forward, could use his valuable veteran scoring elsewhere.
Along with allowing more time for Johnson, the Pistons would have more cap for this upcoming free agency that is highlighted by several big name players hitting the market. The $5.7 million that would free up due to Frye’s contract being up following this season could be a crucial factor this upcoming postseason.
For Cleveland, they would be able to rid themselves of Shumpert, and they would be able to get another solid scoring threat. Either that or they could deal Crowder or Harris is another package since their depth is terrific.
There’s at least one good reason for both of these teams to think about doing this deal.
