Cleveland Cavaliers point-forward LeBron James is itching for the 2017-2018 season to start.

Wednesday, with Cleveland Cavaliers in-house megastar LeBron James exclaiming he can’t wait for the offseason to end, the NBA world took notice of the league’s king.

No, he has not lost his crown, as outspoken ESPN analyst Skip.. Err.. Stephen A. Smith would have you believe (it’s getting hard to tell if Smith is former ESPN analyst and current FS1 analyst Skip Bayless in disguise these days considering the amount of vitriol and lack of respect coming James’ way from Smith since Bayless left the program).

While he may be disappointed and frustrated by Kyrie Irving’s trade request, no that request has not diminished James’ loyalty to the Cavs’ organization. Irving, unlike former general manager David Griffin, obviously would have left town eventually – no matter what team owner Dan Gilbert said.

Although most fans seem disappointed by the Cavs’ additions and the players they were unable to acquire or trade away, no James will not consider the offseason to have been so disappointing he’ll have no faith in the upcoming season. Consider that the Cavs would likely have a second unit with the persistent warrior in Derrick Rose, the sharpshooting Kyle Korver, the immortal Richard Jefferson and the versatile Jeff Green and that they’re starting lineup hasn’t changed and the team is truly better than it was last year – when many people believed a better bench could have gotten the Cavs to tie the series 2-2 before they went down 3-1 in the 2017 NBA Finals.

James, an incredible businessman who has shown savvy and instinct with his investments, knows that even if Irving or Love is traded the Cavs will get fair value in return.

Will the team look different? Of course.

However, they’ll still put points on the board, likely be a better defensive club and have better chemistry than before (with no internal power struggles).

James, who may resent his team’s owner for a few things, may have wondered why a very respectable man and former champion in Chauncey Billups respects Gilbert. So rather than continuing to look at what Gilbert didn’t do (bring back Griffin or bring in Billups as general manager) he looks at what he did do (promote a worthy young front office executive in Koby Altman). Rather than look at “The Letter”, he looks at Gilbert walking in-stride with Rich Paul – James’ agent and friend. He looks at Gilbert doing what he can to keep and please him. After all, he was rumored to have left Miami, in part, because he felt like he wasn’t being catered to. So if he’s in Cleveland, he may acknowledge that while every decision doesn’t appease him, he’s being catered to more than any other player in the league. It’s like he’s Kobe Bryant on a farewell tour every season.

So if the basketball world was wondering how this offseason effected James, he has your answer.

Fueled by doubt, betrayal, being overlooked, underappreciated and the thought of winning more championships, James’ adrenaline has risen.

He sees the opportunity to prove his greatness again and he’s salivating. Oh you think Kobe is better than him? Stephen Curry? Kevin Durant?

You’ll see.

James only sees one player as his equal, Michael Jordan. The GOAT.

Even though that title is no longer unanimously given to the NBA legend.

James’ physical prowess, basketball genius and natural playmaking gifts have made him the greatest talent the NBA has seen, bar none. Yet, it seems as if he has more doubters every year. As he gets closer to the mountaintop, more people want to remove him from his pedestal.

Next season, be prepared for James to put the world on notice. His enthusiasm amidst the chaos of the Cleveland Cavaliers offseason is a firefly in the night.

It’s a great sign for his city, his teammates and his franchise.
